Great memories! We took a cruise up the Stikine River. We viewed spectacular scenery, wild life and glaciers. The Captain & crew are very knowledgeable about the area. The boat is very comfortable. It was hard to choose one of many cruises that they do. We did two tours with Alaska Waters: The First Tour: The AnAn Bear Observatory This was one of the most enjoyable adventures we have ever had. The staff and guides provided by Alaska Water’s were very professional and we felt confident in their abilities the entire trip. Everything was first class and substantially exceeded our expectations. Prior to an on time departure, the group was safety briefed about the boat. The jet boat ride from Wrangell to the Bear Observatory was a beautiful ride over water that was smooth as glass. Once we arrived at the Observatory we again were safety briefed by our guide and a park ranger about what to expect on the trail and in the viewing area. After hiking about a half mile in the rain forest on a board walk trail, we arrived at the Observatory where we were allowed plenty of time to take lots of great photos. The site was incredible. Black bears, brown bears, bald eagles, and salmon… Everything we came to see - were right there in front of us. We highly recommend this tour company and this trip when visiting Wrangell. Stikine River Wilderness Day Tour Every once in a while you stumble across an incredible opportunity to experience nature as it was intended. In our case we experienced it in the Stikine River Wilderness Day Tour offered by Alaska Waters. This was the second trip in two days for us with this company and we could not have been happier. Everything was first class and professional. Captain Jim and his assistant were excellent in providing an experience better than we ever could have imagined. We highly recommend Alaska Waters and this day trip. There are glaciers and whales throughout the inside passage, but there is only one Stikine River and this trip is one of the best tours in the entire state.
